Both items are made from black-eyed buckskin and are embellished with colored hairs (that were later moistened, dyed, and swen together to make one long strand) that were taken from the mane, cheeks, and rump of moose. Huron women traditionally used vegetable dyes that yielded bright, vibrant colors.
