Caption Reads: Riding Accessories. These pictures shown above are the fine works of the Crow tribe women. The woman's saddle (top) shows Spanish influence, with the exception of the pommel and cantle, (horn handle and backrest) because they are much higher and they are usually made from wood and sometimes horn. The saddle seat is hand made from wood and covered with buckskin. To the left and the right of the saddle are the stirrups, made of cotton wood branches bent into U-shapes and fastened to level wood bases. Like the pommel and cantle of the saddle, it includes the intricate beadwork of the traditional Crow designs. The object to the right is made of beaded buckskin and red trader's cloth. It was worn around a horse's neck, with the square area over the horse's chest.
